The DFW Car & Toy Museum has added a meticulously restored 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster to its collection, showcasing the pinnacle of British automotive design and engineering.

The DFW Car & Toy Museum has recently unveiled a 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster, a vehicle celebrated for its beauty and engineering, now part of the Ron Sturgeon Collection. This British icon, acquired in 2023 as a disassembled project, has been transformed through an extensive restoration into the masterpiece it was designed to be. Brian Sturgeon, Director of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, highlights the car's significance, noting its recognition by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful car ever made.
The restoration process has returned the roadster to its original glory, featuring a striking blue convertible top, replaced or restored rubber seals, glass, wiring, and chrome trim. The convertible top frame was also rebuilt, ensuring every detail reflects the car's timeless allure. Under the hood, the 4.2-liter inline-six engine, equipped with triple SU carburetors, delivers a factory-rated 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque, complemented by a rebuilt four-speed full-synchromesh manual transmission and limited-slip differential for an unparalleled driving experience.
The car's four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes, with inboard-mounted rear rotors, ensure it remains as capable on the road as it is visually stunning. Inside, the cockpit features a classic wood-rimmed steering wheel, elegant black vinyl dash, and Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, blending spirited driving with sophisticated style.
This Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster is a testament to craftsmanship, passion, and automotive history, making it a must-see for enthusiasts of vintage sports cars and British automotive excellence. The DFW Car & Toy Museum invites visitors to admire this and over 200 other vehicles, along with thousands of collectible toys, at one of Texas' most captivating free attractions.
