Amprion GmbH expands its management team with Katrin Hilmer's appointment as COO and Director of Labor Relations, strengthening leadership for Germany's energy transition infrastructure development.

The Supervisory Board of Amprion GmbH has expanded the company's management team and appointed Katrin Hilmer as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director of Labor Relations, effective 1 April 2026. This appointment comes at a critical time as Amprion's responsibility for the transformation of the energy system is growing, and with it the company itself. Over the past five years, the number of employees has grown by an average of 13 percent, reflecting the increasing demands of Germany's energy transition.
Katrin Hilmer, currently Managing Director of DB Energie GmbH, will take over responsibility for human resources, operations, occupational safety and European affairs. She will join the existing management team consisting of Dr. Christoph Müller (CEO), Dr. Hendrik Neumann (CTO) and Peter Rüth (CFO) as COO. Uwe Tigges, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Amprion GmbH, stated that the company is delighted to welcome an experienced manager capable of covering a wide range of topics, while also underlining Amprion's commitment to increasing the proportion of female executives not only in top management, but across the entire organisation.
Hilmer emphasized the significance of her new role, noting that the energy transition is a generational project that will only succeed on the basis of a robust infrastructure. She expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to make a direct contribution to this critical national effort as COO and Director of Labor Relations at Amprion. Her background includes serving as Managing Director of DB Energie GmbH since 2022, where she was responsible for human resources and security, following extended periods abroad in the USA, Spain, and France, and various management positions in DB Group and at DB InfraGO AG.
This leadership expansion is particularly important given Amprion's role as one of four transmission system operators in Germany, operating an 11,000 kilometre-long extra-high voltage grid that transports electricity from the North Sea to the Alps. The company's infrastructure supports one third of Germany's economic output and serves as lifelines for society, securing jobs and quality of life for 29 million people. With more than 3,100 employees at over 30 locations, Amprion maintains grid stability and security while paving the way for a climate-neutral energy system through continuous grid expansion.
