Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation Distributes $19,400 to Support Community Initiatives in Southeastern Massachusetts

The Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation has awarded grants totaling $19,400 to five nonprofit organizations in Southeastern Massachusetts, continuing its mission to support community resources including health services, food, and shelter. Since its establishment in 2018, the Foundation has distributed over $275,000 to local groups, funded by individual donations and events like the annual golf tournament. Anthony F. Cordeiro, the Foundation's founder, emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, "Our grantees leave indelible impacts on the communities they serve, and we are proud to support them in their efforts."

Among the recipients, the United Way of Greater Fall River and Firefighter Wives Association each received $2,500 to aid those affected by the Gabriel House fire, providing essential support such as Red Cross response, mental health services, clothing, and food. The Veterans Association of Bristol County was granted $5,000 to ensure three months of food security for its pantry, which distributes 20,000 pounds of food monthly to over 500 veterans and families, while also sustaining the Harvest for Heroes program for fresh produce. Gnome Surf received $4,900 to purchase equipment for its virtual SurFit Social-Emotional Wellness Program, targeting neurodivergent and disabled youth with mindfulness and emotional regulation skills. Community Connections, Inc. was awarded $4,500 to fund a free, six-week outdoor yoga and mindfulness series for 50-100 participants in Fall River, focusing on reducing stress and fostering connection for those facing isolation or health challenges.

Melanie Cordeiro, Executive Director of the Foundation, highlighted the collective impact of these initiatives, noting, "Though each grantee's mission is unique, all are united by a shared desire to uplift their communities." The Foundation's funding sources include sponsors such as Rockland Trust as the Title Sponsor for events like the 20th Annual Golf Invitational. Applications for the second round of 2025 funding are open until December 31, 2025, with guidelines available for download here, inviting nonprofits in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island to apply for support aligned with the Foundation's mission.
