Aspen Power Expands Pennsylvania Solar Portfolio with New Community Projects

Aspen Power announced the acquisition of two community solar projects in Northampton, Pennsylvania, with a combined capacity of 6.85 megawatts direct current. These projects represent the first to close under a portfolio totaling 18 MWdc under contract with Syncarpha Capital, LLC, marking a significant expansion of the company's Pennsylvania renewable energy footprint.

Industry estimates from the Solar Energy Industries Association indicate these projects will create approximately 130 jobs, providing economic benefits to the local community while advancing clean energy infrastructure. The ground-mounted systems are expected to generate nearly 9 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, equivalent to powering over 800 homes, demonstrating the substantial impact of distributed generation on meeting regional energy needs.

Jorge Vargas, Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Power, emphasized the importance of these projects, stating that solar now represents the most affordable source of new electricity in the U.S. Despite challenging political environments, the company continues to execute and bring projects online, creating reliable long-term income for landowners and affordable clean energy for residents. The partnership with Syncarpha Capital enables tangible progress toward a more resilient grid at a pivotal moment for the renewable energy industry.

Cliff Chapman, co-founder and CEO of Syncarpha Capital, noted that as a long-term owner and operator of solar and storage projects, the company is selective about partnership choices. They selected Aspen Power due to their reliability as a counterparty, strong financial backing, and proven execution capabilities. These transactions represent only a fraction of Syncarpha's organically developed Pennsylvania pipeline, indicating potential for further expansion in the state's clean energy future.

Aspen Power maintains an active presence in Pennsylvania with more than 100 MW of operating and in-construction assets across the state. The speed of solar deployment makes it a critical solution for meeting near-term energy needs as electricity demand continues to grow. Pennsylvania's target of sourcing 18% of its electricity from renewables by 2025 underscores the importance of these projects, which will contribute directly to the state's clean energy goals and demonstrate the viability of community solar as a scalable renewable energy solution.

Nationwide, Aspen Power continues to lead in the distributed generation sector, having developed or acquired more than 600 renewable energy projects across 26 states.
