CME Group Expands Middle East Presence with Dubai Office Opening

CME Group announced its expansion into the Middle East with the opening of its Dubai office located in Dubai International Financial Centre, operating locally under a DFSA license. This strategic move addresses the surging institutional and retail participation in financial markets that has fueled demand for broader trading access throughout the region. Julie Winkler, Chief Commercial Officer at CME Group, emphasized that building on years of collaboration with regulators and brokers in the region, the new office will accelerate the company's ability to help clients manage risk and pursue opportunities in some of the world's most important benchmark products.

The Dubai office will operate as CME Group's Middle East hub, offering the UAE and surrounding markets enhanced service capabilities according to Serge Marston, Head of EMEA at CME Group. This expansion represents a significant step forward in elevating the company's EMEA presence for clients across the region. The office will be led by Sharif Jaghman, Head of Middle East and Africa, who brings nearly 20 years of financial services experience including previous positions at CME Group in London, New York Stock Exchange, and Euronext.

Salmaan Jaffery, Chief Business Development Officer at DIFC Authority, welcomed CME Group's presence in the Centre, noting that it strengthens a relationship built over many years and serves as a testament to Dubai's strategic role as a global financial hub. The expansion underscores the growing opportunities throughout the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions. CME Group provides listed futures, options and cash markets across every major investable asset class including interest rates, equities, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural, metals and cryptocurrency products through platforms including CME Group.

The company's recent regional initiatives include listing the spot U.S. Dollar / United Arab Emirates Dirham currency pair on EBS Market and EBS Direct in response to client demand. As the world's leading derivatives marketplace, CME Group enables clients to trade futures, options, cash and OTC markets, optimize portfolios, and analyze data through its comprehensive suite of trading platforms including CME Globex, BrokerTec for fixed income trading, and the EBS platform for foreign exchange trading. The company also operates one of the world's leading central counterparty clearing providers through CME Clearing, providing critical risk management infrastructure for global markets.
