Colorado FIRST Mourns the Loss of Board Director Tony English

Colorado FIRST has announced the passing of Board Director and Executive Director Tony English on June 16, 2025, marking a significant loss for the STEM education community in Colorado. English, a mechanical engineer and Army veteran, was celebrated for his dedication to inspiring young minds through robotics and STEM programs. His journey with FIRST began in 2006, leading to the creation of Team 4499 "The Highlanders", which has influenced over 150 students towards STEM careers.

Recognized nationally in 2015 with the Woody Flowers Finalist Award, English's commitment to expanding access to FIRST programs was unwavering. Following his passing, the Colorado FIRST Board appointed Debbie English as Executive Director and Board Member, ensuring the continuation of his vision. Debbie's longstanding involvement with Colorado FIRST and her shared dedication with Tony to STEM education positions her as a fitting successor.
