Comcast RISE Program Awards $3 Million in Grants to 100 King County Small Businesses

Comcast has announced a substantial $3 million grant program targeting small businesses in King County, offering critical financial and technological support to entrepreneurs facing economic uncertainties. The Comcast RISE initiative will provide 100 local businesses with comprehensive grant packages designed to help them stabilize, grow, and succeed in a challenging economic landscape.

The grant package includes a $5,000 monetary award, technology makeover, creative production services, media scheduling, educational resources, and business consultation. This multifaceted approach addresses the diverse challenges small businesses currently encounter, particularly in the wake of persistent inflation and revenue concerns.

Recent data from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce underscores the program's significance, revealing that 58% of small business owners cite inflation as their top concern, with over one-third worried about revenue generation. These statistics highlight the critical need for targeted business support interventions.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell emphasized the importance of small businesses, noting their role in job creation, community building, and neighborhood vibrancy. The Comcast RISE program aligns with the city's economic development strategy by providing resources that can help local entrepreneurs overcome current economic challenges.

Interested small businesses in King County can apply for the program between May 1-31, with winners to be announced in August. Community partners, including the Bellevue Chamber, Greater Seattle Business Association, and Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, will provide informational sessions to help businesses understand the application process.

King County is one of five regions selected by Comcast for this grant initiative, which has already supported 14,000 entrepreneurs nationwide since its launch in late 2020. The program is part of Comcast's broader Project UP initiative, focused on creating digital opportunities and supporting business growth.
