Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. and Babcock International Group have signed an MOU to co-develop and supply 50 rapidly deployable platforms integrating 5G communications, ISR, and counter-UAS capabilities for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, marking a significant step in enhancing Ukraine's defense infrastructure and expanding NATO's Eastern Flank capabilities.

Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. (CSE: CTTT) (FRA: X9V) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Babcock International Group to co-develop and build a rapidly deployable platform integrating 5G communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), and counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The agreement, signed at the DSEI (Defence and Security Equipment International) expo in London, will see both companies working exclusively on the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence request to supply 50 of CiTech’s Nexus 20 platforms.
The solution will be delivered in a 20-foot containerised format, transportable by truck. Once deployed, the system will provide 5G communications, counter-UAS, and ISR capability, self-unload and adapt to sloping or uneven terrain, and deploy a 20m cyclone-rated tower to support mission-critical operations. In addition, the MOU includes plans to explore the development of a Nexus 20 assembly hub in Eastern Europe and further opportunities across NATO’s Eastern Flank.
Mark Goldsack, Babcock’s International Director, stated that the partnership demonstrates their commitment to supporting Ukraine and enables the delivery of a rapidly deployable communications, counter-UAS and ISR capability while expanding their Eastern Europe footprint with a dedicated assembly hub. Brenton Scott, CEO of CiTech, emphasized that partnering with Babcock International unlocks a pathway for the Nexus 20 to be rapidly scaled across Ukraine and Eastern Europe, positioning it as a benchmark capability across NATO’s Eastern Flank.
This collaboration represents a strategic response to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence's specific needs, providing critical mobile telecommunications and defense solutions in a rapidly deployable format. The integration of 5G communications with ISR and counter-UAS capabilities addresses modern battlefield requirements, enhancing situational awareness and communication resilience. The planned Eastern European assembly hub indicates long-term commitment to regional security and defense infrastructure development, potentially serving as a model for future NATO deployments.
The partnership between an Australian defense SME and a FTSE 100 international defense company demonstrates how smaller innovative firms can leverage established defense contractors to scale their technologies for major international deployments. The containerized, rapidly deployable nature of the Nexus 20 platform makes it particularly valuable for conflict zones where traditional infrastructure may be compromised or unavailable.
