The completion of the new 16,800-square-foot freestanding emergency department in Miramar addresses Broward County's growing population needs by providing convenient access to care and reducing wait times.

The South Florida Business Unit of DPR Construction has topped out the first phase of construction of Memorial Healthcare System's new 16,800-square-foot freestanding emergency department located at Miramar Parkway and Red Road in Miramar, Florida. Designed to serve Broward County's fast-growing community, the facility will include 13 examination rooms, eight fast track rooms, a pediatric treatment area, a trauma/resuscitation room, advanced imaging capabilities including CT and x-ray, and on-site lab services.
The facility is scheduled to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2026 and will significantly impact healthcare accessibility in the region. With the population projected to increase by 10% by 2029, this new emergency department will offer convenient access to care and help reduce wait times for residents. Memorial Hospital Pembroke CEO Felicia Turnley emphasized the strategic importance of this location, noting that this area of Miramar comprises a total of 27% of Memorial's emergency room volume, making the new facility crucial for meeting existing and future demand.
DPR Construction's Senior Project Manager Luke Stocking confirmed that the building's topping out will be completed by the end of August and attributed the project's on-schedule progress to strong collaboration with local authorities. Working with the City of Miramar and other local entities has been essential, particularly since this site had never been developed before, requiring coordination with multiple stakeholders who have been extremely responsive throughout the construction process.
DPR is simultaneously constructing another freestanding emergency department for Memorial in Pembroke Pines on Douglas Road, also planned to open in 2026. For both projects, DPR has effectively managed ongoing labor challenges and created greater efficiencies by handling certain scopes with their in-house self-perform team. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in South Florida, DPR and its more than 100 local employees handle approximately $260 million in construction projects annually throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
