Assemblyman John Harabedian and other officials are urging Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara to crack down on alleged misconduct by insurers and halt any rate increase for State Farm General, which has already been approved. State Farm General, California's largest home insurance provider, is seeking an 11% rate hike on top of an emergency 17% increase approved by Commissioner Lara in May.

California State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez and Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger have specifically singled out State Farm General for criticism.
