The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) of Florida is taking a stand against the controversial use of the Baker Act, a mental health law that permits involuntary examination and commitment, by hosting monthly seminars aimed at educating the public. These seminars, held in Clearwater, delve into the implications of coercive psychiatry, a practice that has seen over 214,000 Floridians subjected to involuntary mental health examinations at its peak in 2018/2019.
