Former State Senator Jim Brochin, who narrowly lost the Democratic nomination for Baltimore County Executive in 2018, is exploring the possibility of running as an independent in the upcoming election. Brochin, who did not grant an interview, expressed via text his apprehensions regarding the potential for increased development in the north county should certain candidates win. Roger Hartley, Dean of the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore, noted that while Brochin benefits from some name recognition, the success of his campaign would heavily depend on his ability to swiftly amass financial support.
