Four Girl Scouts from Southeast Florida Earn Prestigious Gold Award for Community Projects

Autumn Wilson, Michelle Donohue, Ruby Miller, and Hannah Stefanovic, from Port St. Lucie, Palm City, and Stuart respectively, have achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor for Girl Scouts in grades nine through 12. Their projects have made significant contributions to their communities by addressing critical issues such as drowning prevention, the lack of life skills education among teens, food insecurity, and the protection of Florida's waterways.

Autumn Wilson's project, "Safe Aquatics for Everyone", focused on drowning prevention through education and awareness. She organized a Water Safety Expo and distributed educational materials to local organizations, ensuring the community's long-term safety around water.

Michelle Donohue addressed the gap in life skills education with her project, "Skills for Success", by creating a free website that serves as a digital hub for learning essential skills like home maintenance and financial literacy, empowering young adults for independent living.

Ruby Miller's "Gardening for Good" project transformed a neglected garden into a source of fresh produce for a local soup kitchen, while also educating the community on food justice and sustainability, fostering a sense of empowerment and community engagement.

Hannah Stefanovic's "Marine Education to Improve Our Florida Waterways" project raised awareness about the impact of human behavior on marine ecosystems, providing resources and signage to promote sustainable boating and pollution prevention, contributing to the preservation of Florida's aquatic environments.

These young women have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to making a difference, earning them the prestigious Gold Award and recognition as change agents in their communities.
