Holy Cross Health Unveils Jon & Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center

Holy Cross Health celebrated the opening of the Jon & Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center, a renovated outpatient rehabilitation facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology and unique therapies, thanks to a $2 million donation from Jon and Helaine Ayers. The center, located in Fort Lauderdale, is the only facility in Broward County to offer such specialized treatments aimed at improving patients' mobility and balance. The rehabilitation center provides expert care in physical, occupational, and speech therapy for patients recovering from various conditions, including strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

The facility introduces eight new pieces of equipment, including the Balance Quest TRV Chair for vertigo treatment, the C-Mill balance and gait treadmill with virtual reality, the Biodex Balance System SD for fall risk assessment, the MyoCycle Pro for patients with neurological disorders, the EksoNR robotic exoskeleton for walking retraining, and the RT300 UE/LE FES cycle for neurological impairments. These innovations represent a leap forward in rehabilitation technology, offering patients a comprehensive and immersive recovery experience.

Jon Ayers, a board member of Holy Cross Health and a quadriplegic following a bike accident, shared his personal connection to rehabilitation therapy, emphasizing the importance of access to advanced treatments and professional support for recovery. The center's team-based approach addresses not only the physical aspects of rehabilitation but also the emotional and cognitive challenges patients face during their recovery journey.
