Orange County United Way Unveils Five-Year Strategic Plan to Address Community Challenges

Orange County United Way announced UNITED4OC 2030, a comprehensive five-year strategic plan designed to address the county's most pressing challenges through coordinated community action. The initiative outlines a vision to cultivate a stronger workforce, healthier economy, and improved well-being for all residents of Orange County, calling on individuals, businesses, and community leaders to join forces in creating meaningful change.

The ambitious plan centers on creating 4 million moments of impact by 2030 to build a more resilient community, with every action—whether attending educational events, making financial donations, volunteering time, or mentoring students—contributing to this collective goal. Lawrence R. Armstrong, Board Chair of Orange County United Way, emphasized that UNITED4OC 2030 will pave the way for a stronger and more united future, inviting the community to invest time and resources alongside neighbors to improve lives today and for generations to come.

The strategic framework focuses on expanding access and opportunities for Orange County's most vulnerable populations through several key initiatives. United for Student Success offers holistic support to close opportunity gaps for underserved youth, focusing on student readiness, on-time high school graduation, and college and career readiness. The program aims to empower students with adaptable skills to thrive in college and growing industries while navigating an evolving job market.

United for Financial Security empowers families toward long-term economic stability through systemic financial wellness solutions, advocacy, and education. The initiative works to shape Orange County as a model of financial wellness where families experience measurable gains in financial stability through coordinated efforts with financial institutions, policymakers, businesses, and nonprofits. United to End Homelessness addresses root causes through prevention and housing solutions, strengthening housing and care systems while enhancing prevention systems throughout the county.

The integrated approach includes 211OC, which connects individuals and families to crucial services through an accountable social services network and real-time care coordination. This system provides closed-loop referrals for housing, food assistance, and other resources offered by local nonprofits and government agencies, reducing barriers and helping residents move toward healthier, more stable futures.
