Peru Pavilion Celebrates Inti Raymi and Fiesta de San Juan at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai

The Peru Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai hosted a cultural event on June 24, 2025, featuring the Inti Raymi and Fiesta de San Juan festivals, two of Peru's most significant traditional celebrations. Fernando Albareda, Deputy Commissioner General of Peru, emphasized the importance of these festivals as expressions of Peru's cultural diversity during his welcome address. The event included live performances such as the Valicha and Shipibo dances, representing the Andes and Amazon regions, respectively, and was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.

Inside the pavilion, guests enjoyed a guided tour, cocktail reception, and screenings of festival videos, alongside a tasting menu of Peruvian dishes and cocktails. The event also extended into the virtual realm, with the Peru-Japan link zone in Peru's Virtual Pavilion offering a recreation of the Inti Raymi, accessible worldwide. This celebration not only showcased Peru's cultural diversity but also served as a moment of cultural diplomacy to promote its heritage and tourism attractions like Cusco, Sacsayhuaman, and Machu Picchu.
