Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival Returns with Star-Studded Lineup for 15th Anniversary

The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival will return for its milestone 15th edition, featuring an eclectic lineup of jazz legends, contemporary artists, and rising performers. Presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center and co-sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the festival will take place September 18-21, offering most performances free to the public on Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh.

Headliners include renowned jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis and acclaimed vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, representing the festival's commitment to showcasing both established and emerging musical talent. The lineup spans multiple jazz sub-genres, from straight-ahead jazz to neo-soul and Caribbean rhythms, reflecting the genre's dynamic and evolving nature.

Festival Artistic Director Janis Burley emphasized the event's historical significance, noting its track record of introducing artists at the beginning of their careers and hosting jazz legends. The festival has become a critical platform for musical discovery and cultural celebration, consistently highlighting the depth and diversity of jazz music.

Notable performers include Jazzmeia Horn, Keith David, Kandace Springs, and emerging artists like Michael Mayo and Ekep Nkwelle Howard. The festival will also feature unique performances such as an all-star tribute to Pittsburgh jazz legend George Benson, demonstrating the event's commitment to honoring musical heritage.

For the third consecutive year, the festival will offer THE JAZZ TRAIN, a unique travel package providing round-trip train transportation from select cities, live music during transit, and festival access. This innovative approach underscores the festival's goal of making jazz more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.

Beyond musical performances, the festival will include food trucks, a beer garden, and a Game Zone, creating a comprehensive cultural experience. VIP passes will be available, offering enhanced access and amenities for attendees seeking a premium festival experience.
