Shelly Group Introduces World's First Smart Miniature Circuit Breakers to Transform Professional Building Management

Shelly Group SE is accelerating its expansion into the professional building and energy management market with the introduction of the world's first smart miniature circuit breakers in a compact 1M form factor, presented at IFA 2025. This innovation combines maximum electrical safety with advanced smart control capabilities, enabling real-time monitoring of energy consumption patterns and early detection of anomalies such as unusual usage, overconsumption, or appliance malfunctions. The system's remote power disconnection feature during critical events like fire or flooding minimizes risk and damage, providing a highly efficient, space-saving, and cost-effective solution for modern buildings.

The new Shelly Smart Miniature Circuit Breakers are available with B- and C-trip characteristics, 1P+N poles, and rated currents ranging from 6A to 25A. For communication, the devices offer Z-Wave LR and Bluetooth combined with Zigbee options, ensuring broad connectivity for professional electrical installations and building automation applications. This technological advancement addresses the growing demand for integrated smart solutions in commercial and industrial environments, where safety and energy efficiency are paramount concerns.

In addition to the miniature breakers, Shelly Group is expanding its portfolio with a comprehensive line of professional smart circuit breakers ranging from 1- to 4-pole devices supporting currents from 10A to 63A. These devices feature compact DIN-rail form factors (2M to 5M) and are designed for standard residential and industrial applications at 230V AC and 400V AC. All breakers include integrated Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring maximum flexibility and seamless integration across diverse use cases. According to Market Research Intellect, the global smart circuit breaker market is estimated at approximately $2.5 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 10.5% to exceed $5.8 billion by 2033.

Wolfgang Kirsch, Co-CEO of Shelly Group, emphasized that this development represents a major step in opening up the professional building and energy management market while combining maximum safety with smart control to create significant customer value. The development phase has been completed, with certification processes by DEKRA beginning at the end of September and expected to take approximately two months, followed by VDE certification. Mass production is scheduled to commence immediately after certification completion, with market launch planned for early 2026. This expansion positions Shelly Group to capitalize on key market drivers including rising demand for energy efficiency, smart grid integration, renewable energy adoption, and stricter regulatory requirements for energy savings and electrical safety.
