Shincheonji Taekwondo Team Achieves Remarkable Success at 2025 International Cup

The Shincheonji Church of Jesus Taekwondo Team has once again demonstrated their prowess in taekwondo by securing a total of 25 medals at the '2025 Park Chung-hee Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition'. The event, which took place at the Sangju Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeongbuk, saw participation from approximately 4,200 athletes across 18 countries, competing in various disciplines including poomsae, breaking, and sparring.

Despite a limited preparation period, the Shincheonji team's dedication and rigorous training paid off, earning them 4 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze medals in the official poomsae individual competition. This achievement not only highlights the team's technical excellence but also contributes to enhancing the cultural and diplomatic stature of South Korea, the birthplace of taekwondo.

Lee Jun-wi, a gold medalist from the team, shared his gratitude for the opportunity to compete and the team's focused efforts leading to their success. Coach Kim Deok-hoon expressed pride in the team's performance against high-level competition and outlined plans for future training and participation in international events.

This victory follows the team's previous success at the 2025 Kim Un-yong Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition in Busan, where all 12 participants won medals, further cementing their status as a formidable force in taekwondo. The Shincheonji Church of Jesus continues to promote talent development and community engagement through sports, aiming to foster healthy lifestyles and social contributions.
