UGI Utilities Announces Natural Gas System Upgrades in Coplay

UGI Utilities, Inc. has announced the commencement of two significant natural gas main replacement projects in Coplay, marking a pivotal step in the company's ongoing efforts to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable natural gas services. The second project, starting on August 11 and aiming for completion by the end of September, will affect Coplay Street between South Ninth Street and South Eighth Street, South Eighth Street between Coplay Street and Hokendauqua Street, and Hokendauqua Street between South Eighth Street and South Sixth Street.

Construction activities are planned from Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm, during which residents, business owners, and commuters should anticipate road closures, detours, and possible traffic delays. Parking restrictions will also be in place on the affected streets. Additionally, the projects will necessitate temporary interruptions to natural gas service, requiring UGI personnel to access properties for inspection and equipment relighting purposes.

UGI has emphasized that the completion dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and other unforeseen factors. Following the underground work, final paving and restoration efforts will be scheduled to ensure minimal long-term disruption to the community.
