UNCF Chicago's 25th Annual Gala Raises Over $1 Million for Student Scholarships

The United Negro College Fund's 25th Annual 'A Mind Is…' Gala in Chicago marked a significant milestone by raising $1,005,600, aimed at providing scholarships for students. The event, celebrated with a Black and White theme, was emceed by Anita Blanton and Trey White, bringing together over 500 guests including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Lisa Rollins, UNCF Regional Development Director, highlighted the importance of the funds raised, emphasizing the ongoing support for students. The gala also honored Ariel Investments and Nadia Rawlinson for their contributions to education, with awards recognizing their dedication to student success.

A live auction, led by Gee Scott, featured exclusive travel packages, with proceeds directly benefiting college scholarships. Testimonials from scholarship recipients underscored the impact of UNCF's work, with 541 scholarships awarded in Illinois from 2022 to 2023.

Gala Chair Sherina Edwards, an HBCU alumna, stressed the urgency of supporting education amidst funding cuts, calling for collective action to ensure student success. The evening concluded with a performance by R&B group After 7, celebrating the event's achievements and the enduring mission of UNCF to invest in the future of students.
