Waterloo Records Launches Waterloo Sound, A Next-Generation Post-Production Studio in Austin

Waterloo Records has unveiled its newest subsidiary, Waterloo Sound, a cutting-edge post-production studio set to redefine Austin's creative landscape. Located within the reimagined Waterloo Records, Waterloo Sound is designed to cater to the modern demands of artists, engineers, and content creators with its high-performance environment for immersive audio, video post-production, and vinyl mastering.

Emily Gianopoulos, Partner at Waterloo Sound, emphasized the studio's mission to blend Austin's rich musical heritage with future-forward production capabilities. The studio is equipped with the Nu•Studio System, a modular platform by Grammy® Award-winning engineer Chad Franscoviak, offering Dolby Atmos® and Dolby Vision®-calibrated features for spatial audio production and more. This partnership signifies a shared vision for innovation within the music and multimedia storytelling realms.

Unique to Waterloo Sound is its inclusion of a vinyl lacquer cutting lathe, positioning it as one of the few studios in the U.S. to offer both spatial audio post-production and analog vinyl production under one roof. Jon Niess, a mastering engineer and advisor to Nu•Studio, praised the studio's exceptional sound quality and its potential to serve the creative community with unparalleled services.

Opening on August 30th, Waterloo Sound is located at 1105 N. Lamar Blvd, within the expanded Waterloo Records. The studio's services range from Dolby Atmos music mixing to game development support, embodying a blend of tradition and innovation. Co-Owners Trey Watson and Caren Kelleher view Waterloo Sound as a pivotal addition to Waterloo Records, enhancing its appeal and contribution to Austin's music scene.

Beyond its technical offerings, Waterloo Sound will enrich the visitor experience with in-house vinyl production viewing, a café-style lounge, and a rentable podcast studio.
