Women's National Football Conference Partners with American Heart Association to Raise CPR Awareness

The Women's National Football Conference (WNFC) has joined forces with the American Heart Association to address a significant public health challenge: women's cardiovascular health and emergency response preparedness. With cardiovascular disease remaining the leading cause of death for women, and less than half of women aware of this critical health threat, the partnership aims to educate and empower women through targeted awareness campaigns.

Seven WNFC players have been selected as ambassadors to promote heart health and Hands-Only CPR education across local communities. These athletes, representing teams from Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, Mississippi, Washington, Tennessee, and Texas, will leverage their platform to amplify public service announcements and participate in community education events.

WNFC Commissioner Janice Masters emphasized the league's commitment to health and safety, noting that all 200 league coaches are required to be certified in CPR, AED, and first aid. This comprehensive approach demonstrates the organization's dedication to player well-being and community health education.

The collaboration builds on the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement, which has been addressing women's cardiovascular health awareness since 2004. Nancy Brown, the organization's CEO, highlighted the importance of reaching women across all life stages and empowering them to prioritize their heart health.

By utilizing professional athletes as health ambassadors, the initiative seeks to transform public perception and encourage proactive health measures. The player ambassadors will help disseminate critical information about heart disease prevention, CPR techniques, and the importance of recognizing cardiovascular health risks.
