Wytec International Launches AI-Powered Gunshot Detection Pilot in Texas School Districts

Wytec International is poised to launch a groundbreaking pilot program utilizing advanced artificial intelligence and wireless technologies to detect potential gunshot threats in Texas school districts. The company will deploy an integrated solution combining cellular, private LTE, and AI-powered gunshot detection systems across multiple educational institutions.

The pilot program, initiated through a request from 46 Texas Independent School Districts (ISDs), represents a significant advancement in public safety technology. Utilizing the Federal Communications Commission's Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), the system aims to provide secure, interference-free wireless connections capable of identifying multiple types of gunshot threats.

This initiative stems from a recent multi-state government award through the TXShare Cooperative Purchasing Program, which will enable Wytec to implement its AI-integrated smart sensors across more than 170 US cities, 50 counties, and over 40 special districts. The technology is designed to serve diverse sectors, including transit authorities, water utility boards, police departments, and educational institutions.

Wytec has developed its solution through strategic partnerships with Nextivity Inc. and Lemko Corporation, two companies with extensive expertise in wireless technologies and artificial intelligence. The collaboration leverages over 75 global patents and patent-pending solutions related to AI, machine learning, smart sensors, and wireless connectivity.

The gunshot detection system represents a critical response to increasing safety concerns in public spaces, particularly schools. By combining advanced AI algorithms with sophisticated wireless infrastructure, Wytec aims to provide real-time threat detection and potentially prevent or mitigate dangerous incidents.

Nextivity contributes over 25 patents in cellular solutions, while Lemko provides a secure wireless backbone with more than 50 US and international patents. Their combined technological capabilities enable Wytec to create a comprehensive, intelligent safety platform that can be rapidly deployed across different environments.

As part of its first pilot project, Wytec plans to select one or more of the 1,203 Texas ISDs within the TXShare members. This initial deployment will serve as a crucial demonstration of the technology's effectiveness in real-world educational settings.

The company's ambitious approach extends beyond immediate safety applications, positioning itself as a innovative leader in public safety technology. With plans to potentially uplist to the Nasdaq by the end of 2025, Wytec is signaling significant growth and technological advancement in the critical area of threat detection and prevention.
