Inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards Reception Draws Over-Capacity Crowd

The 20 honorees were acknowledged in five groups, mirroring their May introduction in the 'This Week in Chinatown' series by ChinatownVegas.com. Among the honorees in attendance were @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, @wheretogovegas, @therubyontherocks, @baileyzeats, @withlove_christine, @tiny_pennguin, @giselliii93, @tiarappgyo, @antonio_loves_wings, @heydonnah, @ceslynne, @shekuni_lv, and @studiosealv.

Honorees attending the reception received custom Chinatown Creator Award plaques commemorating their influence and contributions to the neighborhood.

“The creators honored through these awards have done far more than post about restaurants,” said Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com and Chinatown Amplify. “They have documented openings, introduced new audiences to independent businesses, captured the people and dishes that define this corridor, and helped the world see why Las Vegas Chinatown matters.”

ChinatownVegas.com Unites Restaurants and Chefs in a Culinary Celebration. ChinatownVegas.com proudly hosted an original culinary presentation, showcasing the talents of chefs and restaurants from the vibrant Chinatown corridor. Highlighting the event were Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii, both of which received MICHELIN Guide recommendations the night before, as reported by Las Vegas Weekly. Chef Brian Howard of Sparrow + Wolf engaged with creators and guests throughout the reception, offering a smoky, wood-fired Isaan sausage enhanced with fermented green mango, nam pla prik, and perilla leaf. Lamaii delighted attendees with their garlicky crispy prawn. Lamaii served a garlicky crispy prawn.

Chef Steve Kestler and Aroma Latin American Cocina created a citrus-forward Chinatown Ceviche exclusively for the event.

"It was an honor to be part of this great community event," Kestler said.

Chef Jimmy Li and Shanghai Taste contributed a rich, exclusive abalone and sea cucumber meatball, while Double Zero Pie & Pub debuted its new, crispy-edged New York-style pizza.

China Mama served tangy orange chicken, and Crystina Nguyen of Mama's House × Durango Social Club presented delicate rice dumplings with mung bean, pork, and shrimp. O.Onigiri offered a tri-pack of unagi, wagyu, and shrimp tempura. Noodlehead's famous beef rolls were passed throughout both rooms all evening, while the restaurant's station served its classic shredded chicken and cold noodles.

Charismatic Yo, Mochi! founder Santy Luangpraseuth was on hand with the night's crème brûlée mochi donut, a caramelized, custard-filled favorite. Chef Yuka of Moignet Café rounded out the sweets with a delicate, pillowy mini chiffon sando, and Milk Bread kept the table stocked with warm cheese bread and guava bread.

Longtime food and beverage veteran Paul Ellis poured wine and champagne throughout the evening and paired his port service with a rich blue cheese flight. The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant provided cocktails and zero-proof beverages throughout the reception.

Among the guests were celebrated rock photographer David Plastik, whose work has appeared in Rolling Stone, RIP, and Creem, and legendary music publicist Mitch Schneider, whose career has included representing David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, and Tom Petty. Schneider later described the reception on Facebook as a "meaningful event" honoring creators "who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map," praising the "taste bud-awakening curated bites from Chinatown's top chefs."

The collective showing allowed Chinatown's culinary and business communities to participate directly in recognizing the content creators whose work regularly introduces local businesses to new audiences.

Recognizing the Voices Telling Chinatown's Story

Las Vegas Chinatown receives approximately 23.9 million visits annually and is home to 248 verified sit-down restaurants, along with cafés, specialty markets, spas, retailers, and nightlife businesses stretching from I-15 to Rainbow Boulevard.

"It's 23.9 million visits a year - more than some countries and more than most cities - all concentrated in one neighborhood," Muscaglione said. "These creators have helped the world see why."

The Chinatown Creator Awards were established to formally recognize photographers, videographers, food voices, and community storytellers whose independent work has helped build awareness of the corridor and its businesses.

Through restaurant discoveries, opening-day coverage, photography, video, interviews, and ongoing neighborhood storytelling, the honorees have helped turn individual Chinatown businesses into destinations while establishing the corridor as one of Las Vegas' most closely watched neighborhoods.

The over-capacity attendance, broad culinary participation, and support from across the neighborhood made the inaugural reception an undeniable success and established a strong foundation for the future of the Chinatown Creator Awards.
