Santa Cruz Works has partnered with GPU-first cloud provider Runpod to give local AI startups instant access to high-performance, scalable compute infrastructure—removing the cost and complexity of managing GPUs. The collaboration aims to accelerate AI innovation in the Santa Cruz ecosystem, enabling founders to train, fine-tune, and deploy models.

A community paddle out will honor “Blue Mind” author Dr. Wallace J. Nichols on July 23—World Blue Mind Day—at Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz. Tributes will include over 1,000 surfers, the O’Neill Sea Odyssey, and the Chardonnay. Public viewing is available, with global celebrations expected to follow.

Blue Innovation Day 2024 at UC Santa Cruz Seymour Marine Discovery Center features over 40 exhibits, workshops, and activities highlighting ocean sustainability, including underwater robots, wave energy, 3D-printed surfboards, and whale bones made from recycled plastics. Open to all ages with free admission.
